Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United America. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank to date. Corcoran has signed 53 deals until February of 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. At times, the family depended on free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran claims her father was a drunken man who did her mother a disservice and condescension. Corcoran struggled at school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a Catholic primary school within her neighborhood and began the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After flunking several courses during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
